Very good book with

Very good book with, maybe the first which gives so much attention to the mass transfer rate based approach to gas sweetening, Suprizingly I did n't find in the references of many subjects the names of other authors who have put the milestones of this approach like Dr Ralph Weiland. Very useful for someone who wants solid background to gas sweetening. A little bit detached however from field and operating issues. I would expect a little bit more information about simulations tools. Highly recommended.

Appreciative Reader I am. Thank you Andrew Branca.

I'm still reading it (about 1/4 of the way through) and so far I would be giving it 5 Stars but I must agree with other reviews I've seen. I can't believe how many grammatical and spelling errors there are (or is it "there is"? Lol - I'm no pro.) I'm not a very good reader or speller and I usually just skip over errors without a thought but... I can't help but sigh out loud every time I come across an error at this point in the book because there is an abnormal amount that is very odd to find in a published book. I'm far from picky and am usually the first to defend those that make mistakes but, for those that have purchased and read this book, you have to admit, it's a bit surprising that a college educated/attorney/ Professional would allow something of this caliper to go out to the public. Maybe it helped keep the cost down by not having professional editing done. Anyways, I'm glad I bought the book. And very thankful that Andrew Branca took the time to write it and provide it to us as an educational resource so that we can better protect ourselves, family, and community. Andrew, I hope you keep putting it out there for us, with or without errors.

I'm not a reader. My mind tends to wander while reading most books; which makes it difficult to follow. "The Law of Self Defense" was definitely an exception! It is very informative. I found myself thinking "I've never thought about it that way before" and "very clever," several times. This book explains legal jargon in a way that is easy to understand without making the reader feel like a dummy. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and learned a lot while reading it. I've marked several pages and taken lots of notes from the material so that I may share with my gun safety students and fellow instructors. I highly recommend "The Law of Self Defense."

Really love this book! This isn't a "how to" book, but gives you more insight on how the "system works." The case studies contained in the book are very insightful - and scary at times. People who legally concealed carry can benefit from this book, their seems to be a lot of gray areas in the justice system. I would highly recommend this book,.

Great Buy!

This is a really good addition to the how to draw manga series... in this book you will learn everything from how to draw all kinds of gloomy backgrounds for different effects to drawing severed limbs (while being pulled apart and after being biten-off)... this book also includes a god amount of monsters and demons from both eastern and western cultures along with a good description on what they are, what they do, and where they are from.... I am extremely happy with my copy of this book.

Excellent, but I wouldn't recommend this for "green" artists

This is an excellent book for those who have basic artistic skills. There's plenty of stuff to get ideas off of, such as the Griffin, Chimaera, etc... It tells about the "moods" of the background in a demonic scenario.

Other things included in this book are: zombies, ghosts, and fictional monsters. But there's also ways to turn a "conventional" character into a demonic-like one, such as sharpening the eyes a bit, or changing the pupils to make your character look psychotic.

One of the things I really loved about this book was the "bitten-off limbs" section. It shows dramatic cuts, non dramatic cuts, faces being partly bitten off, etc...

The cover, however, is quite misleading. If you're looking to draw "Nekos" (catwomen) like the one shown on the cover, you're better off looking at "How to Draw Manga: Bishoujo/Pretty Gals" and its counterpart, "How to Draw Manga: More About Pretty Gals"

I highly recommend both, by the way.

Long story short, this book is great for people who just want ideas or something to draw off of, or maybe even incorporate horror and mecha. Possibilities are endless. Your imagination's the limit.

Another themed reference book

These specific themed books are wonderful as references and Occult & Horror is no different from the rest. Hayashi once again covers a wide variety from human monsters, standard monsters, animal monsters, and how to create the mood necessary for a successful horror manga.

This book is not for the faint of heart. The zombie was fantastically grotesque and there is a section on drawing dismembered body parts which may be unsettling for some folks. Not to mention the cool ghost scenes and other... umm yeah, if you don't like creepy stuff, then this book isn't for you. Otherwise, this book is mostly for reference.

Good read/good intro to Icelandic Culture

This IS the reprinted edition. If you're looking for a particularly good read, "Thorstein the Staff-Struck" and "Hreidar the Fool" are the clear winners for pure enjoyment (both with exquisite comic turns of plot and amusing, yet subtle characterization). "Hrafnkel's Saga" and "Ale-hood" also read well. The remainder of the sagas drag along somewhat slowly from time to time, but are also interesting and read smoothly nonetheless. If you're looking for a glimpse of Icelandic culture (a glimpse of a budding democracy centuries before America was colonized), then this is your best bet. The twenty-one pages of Palsson's introduction, along with his dozen or so footnotes throughout, prepare the reader for the social implications---political and religious---of these many jewels of medieval Iceland. Two maps of Iceland and a list of personal names are also included.
