As a college religion instructor, I use this as the introductory text f or biblical interpretation. It's organization isn't chronological in terms of historical development of the Bible, nor does it follow the individual books of the Bible. Instead, it's topical, in that it introduces major issues for interpretation, including how archaeology, geography, and genre help to understand, interpret, and apply the Bible to daily life.

This is an introductory book written for all kinds of people who want to know more about the Bible.

There is no preset religious thoughts from the writers. They analysed the bible from different perspective to give you a conclusion which is not seek for religious-correctness but evidence-based reviews of the bible.

The book is also written in an informal manner so that readers can easily digest the contents.

Um, WHAT?!?

This book was so far fetched, I can't believe I actually finished it! Lindsay has what she believes to be the perfect marriage. Then, she catches her husband with two women, at the same time! The husband has the most ridiculous excuse as to why he is cheating, but apparently it's actually the truth since the author fails to explain the situation any further.
The dialogue is forced and unnatural. The characters's reactions to terrifying and tragic events is completely unbelievable, it's like every character is afflicted with a flat affect. Then, in the midst of these crazy events, Lindsay decides that now is the time to get it on with the hottie new neighbor. You don't feel like any character has any real emotions, except Jake, who is perpetually horny. The way he talks to Lindsay is not hot or sexy, it's just gross and inappropriate.

A good romantic suspense!

I read this last night after reading another of the author's books (Tangled Beauty) earlier in the day and I was not disappointed.

This is a fairly quick read that really pulls you in. I've read some of the more negative reviews here and I have to say that I don't agree with them. Yes- some of the situations and reactions are a bit on the farfetched side- but we're reading fiction. If I wanted a completely realistic story I'd head over to the non-fiction side of the room.

The story is fast paced and full of suspense and a couple of twists thrown in here and there. The romantic aspect, I feel, is not over the top. It's there and there's a lot of heat between the two main characters, but there's no gratuitous displays of sex just to have them in there. The romance seems to flow with the story to me.

Overall it's 4 of 5. It definitely kept me on edge and had me wanting to flip to the end to find out some things at times! (I didn't! But I wanted to!) I highly recommend you read it!

Not enough time....

This was an interesting story and appealed to me. When I started reading it however, there were some 'issues' I had trouble accepting. I will try not to spoil it for you, but here goes....

The perfect marriage that everyone including her, thinks she has is obviously just a sham. After she finds her husband in a compromising situation with not one, but two women, her idea of their perfect married life is like a chewed up piece of gum stuck to the bottom of her shoe! I found it really difficult to believe that Scott didn't think he was doing anything wrong and that he expected Lindsay to forgive him, because he was 'doing it' for his family!
And the way he was constantly pushing at her...wanting to get back together with her like nothing ever happened. He didn't respect any of her wishes for him to back off!

She then strikes up a 'friendship' with the neighbour that soon turns to, we'll you can guess what. Jake the neighbour started to put pressure on her far too soon and before she was ready for anything more. Oh sure he said he would be patient and wait, but as the pages flowed, his limit for waiting for her was 5 minutes before putting pressure to having a more physical side to the relationship. She had said that she wasn't going to take Scott back, but they never really got together and talked, so the reader couldn't be convinced. Then Scott is murdered. Lindsay becomes the Prime suspect, which in cases like that are usual. Throw in a deranged killer fixated on Lindsay, bodies turning up, misunderstandings and you have a VERY convoluted, rushed story that doesn't even begin to scrape the surface of the essential characters.

I got the feeling that her kids always got shunted off to the first person whom offered. There also was minimal interaction with the kids and Jake since most of the book focused on Jake and Lindsay and their lust, oops sorry, love for one another. The only redeeming character was Lindsay's best friend Darcy! She was a hoot! Any person would be blessed to have a friend like her. She had me laughing at her antics and her take on the world.

There just didn't seem enough pacing. Everything was rushed. Don't even get me started on their honeymoon!

There were some twists and turns to the plot, but there was just the bare skim of information to explain when it would have better served the reader to be more in depth.

It was an OK, read. Do I recommend it? I guess, but I would have to warn you to suspend your belief a bit. Would I pay more than .99 cents for it? No.

This is a great story for a first published work. It needs a bit more polish. I do apologise to anyone reading my review if I have spoiled it for you!

Very informative with simple, effective patterns

Dave Whitlock presents information about important foods for trout - insects, crustaceans, and bait fish. He covers each organism's life cycle and how it relates to trout feeding, then simple, effective patterns to represent the imporatant life stages. I particularly like the way Dave makes his patterns a good mix of realisim with impressionistic simplicity. Excellent book for both beginning and experienced tyers.

A great introduction fly fishing entomology

I picked up this book for about five and a half bucks for a co-worker who had just recently taken up fly fishing. I actually purchased this same book about fifteen years ago when I was just beginning to fly fish. This book really explains why you use certain kinds of flies at different times of the year, whether to use dry or wet flies and which colors to use. It is an excellent primer for understanding the life cycles of the trout's main diet, namely aquatic insects. I truly recommend this to anyone who fly fishes.

This book will help you understand why you catch Trout, or don't. In the stream or river the trout are facing the current head on, looking for food. Understand the food and you understand most of the the fish's behavior. You will never fish your best until you understand the lifecycle of the bugs the Trout eat. The book covers everything you need to know to catch trout in your stream,creek or river. If there is a Flyfisherman's Bible... this is it.

This is a must for daily OR use!

I have looked at 10 different reverence pocket notebooks for the OR and this is the one! I love it and so do almost all of my classmates. Most CRNAs that I am with look at it and say "I need one of these". It is quick and easy to use. Has metal wrings so you can add pages and cards as needed. Great little book!
