�Hola! Soy Ingrid Macher, mejor conocida como Adelgaza20 en las redes sociales. Estoy aqu� para contarte que despu�s de sobrevivir a las garras de la muerte tras un ataque de asma cuando ten�a siete meses de embarazo, de levantarme de la quiebra financiera de 2008 y de perder 50 libras en 90 d�as, pude transformar por completo mi vida, mi salud, mi situaci�n financiera y mi figura, pasando de ser una gordita a una mamacita. Si has le�do mi libro anterior, me sigues en las redes sociales o lees mis art�culos en alguna revista, seguramente ya conoces mi historia… O parte. Sabr�s, por ejemplo, c�mo, despu�s de estar muriendo por asma en una sala de emergencias, con siete meses de embarazo y tras perderlo todo
en la crisis de 2008, mi vida dio un vuelco. Logr� la inspiraci�n para perder 50 libras en 90 d�as, recuperar mi salud, mi vida y empezar a armar una carrera en el mundo del ejercicio y la nutrici�n. Sabr�s tambi�n que hoy m�s de 10 millones de seguidoras me leen diariamente en mi sitio Adelgaza20 y unos 80 millones ven semanalmente mis publicaciones en redes sociales… O que en 2016 fui parte del Escuadr�n de la Belleza como health coach de Nuestra Belleza Latina, el reality show m�s popular en espa�ol de Estados Unidos y Latinoam�rica. Sabr�s, adem�s, que doy conferencias en Estados Unidos y Am�rica Latina, que he podido desarrollar mis propios productos y programas, creando un peque�o imperio en materia de bienestar a trav�s de Internet.
S� que muchas mujeres me ven como su modelo a seguir y piensan que, con tantos millones de seguidores, la fama y el dinero brotan por todos lados, por arte de magia, haciendo que mi vida sea siempre co-
lor de rosa. Quiz�s t� piensas lo mismo. Pues d�jame contarte que la realidad es otra. �sa es s�lo una parte de la historia, la cara bonita de la moneda, pero hay mucho m�s detr�s. Hay batallas diarias, momentos de angustia, personas que han actuado como mis enemigos ante cualquier intento de salir adelante, cientos de cr�ticas, accidentes, entre otros. En fin, una novela, pero de la vida real.
Hoy te voy a revelar varios secretos. Pues desde antes de transformar mi vida, e incluso, despu�s de lograrlo, han pasado muchas cosas, buenas y otras un poco dif�ciles. Pero a partir de ese momento, entend� que mi vida, con todas sus aristas: buenas, malas, con aciertos y errores, ten�a un prop�sito, una misi�n para Dios y un trabajo que cumplir para el bienestar de otros, tambi�n supe que deb�a escribir un libro para ti.
Y ciertamente, en estos a�os �ha corrido mucha agua bajo el puente! Hay muchos aspectos que desconoces y que seguramente te sorprender�n y te har�n ver que tu realidad no es tan distinta a la m�a, que cada d�a hay nuevas batallas, pero que definitivamente “todo es posible para quien lo cree”. Ya ver�s.

“Profeta” en mi hogar



Muchos creen que por el hecho de ser una persona saludable y fit, toda mi familia tambi�n lo es. �Eso quisiera! Pero realmente no es as�. Tal como te cont� en mi libro Al rescate de tu nuevo yo, nac� y crec� en Colombia, en el seno de una familia muy tradicional, en todo el sentido de la
palabra, desde lo religioso a lo alimenticio. Incluida en lo que llamo:
“la cultura del frito”: yuca frita, pl�tano frito, empanadas fritas y todo lo que pueda ser m�s sabroso al pasar por el aceite hirviendo. Si eres hispana, del pa�s que seas, sabes a lo que me refiero.
Pues gracias a esa “cultura del frito”, la mayor parte de mi familia ha padecido problemas de obesidad severa, diabetes, hipertensi�n, entre otros. Mi mam�, por ejemplo, actualmente pesa casi 300 libras y aunque no lo creas, tratar de cambiarle la mentalidad para que transforme su vida por una saludable ha sido un proceso impresionantemente dif�cil. Hasta ahora, imposible. Estoy consciente que en su caso no se trata s�lo de vagancia, de no querer hacer ejercicio o cambiar de h�bitos alimenticios, sino que ciertos problemas f�sicos han complicado m�s su situaci�n. Mi madre tiene un reemplazo de caderas y platino en sus rodillas, lo cual ciertamente le ha impedido ser una mujer f�sicamente activa. Pero, sobre todo, la ha determinado el hecho de no querer cambiar las tradiciones con las que crecimos y adaptarse a una nutrici�n moderna, que se ajuste precisamente a sus necesidades f�sicas. Toda esa negatividad le ha impedido que pierda peso, generando que sufra distintos padecimientos de salud y dolores cr�nicos, que por su avanzada edad son muy dif�ciles de corregir a trav�s de procedimientos quir�rgicos por lo complicada que puede ser la rehabilitaci�n.
Tambi�n est� el caso de mi hermana, quien tambi�n sufre de obesidad, pues tiene p�simos h�bitos alimenticios. No te imaginas cu�nto he querido compartir con ella todo lo aprendido en estos a�os en materia de nutrici�n y vida saludable. He tratado de ayudarla de todas las formas posibles, d�ndole informaci�n, con mis libros, incluso pag�ndole membres�as a costosos gimnasios para que se ejercite, pero no ha cambiado su estilo de vida. Por supuesto, sigue lidiando con la obesidad y todas sus consecuencias en el �mbito de la salud.
No es f�cil manejar a solas un barco que navega por las aguas de un cambio en el estilo de vida. Es muy importante que tengas en cuenta que no por el hecho de que t� quieras ser saludable, tienes que someter y obligar a toda tu familia a seguir tus pasos. Ser�a ideal poder convencerlos a todos y avanzar en familia, aprendiendo a ser m�s saludables. Pero lamentablemente esto no suele ocurrir. Cada quien tiene su ritmo y su tiempo, y nos guste o no, algunos nunca van a modificar sus conductas. Y cr�eme que, aunque queramos lo mejor para ellos, la decisi�n final les pertenece a ellos. Los cambios deben darse progresivamente y de acuerdo con sus propias convicciones. �sa es la �nica manera de que sean cambios reales que perduren en el tiempo.
�Ni siquiera cambiar los h�bitos de mi esposo me fue tarea sencilla! Como muchos hombres y especialmente americanos como �l, no estaba interesado en dejar de comer sus platillos favoritos: hamburguesas, pizzas, pastas, entre otros. En su dieta abundaba el carbohidrato y la comida r�pida. Fue muy dif�cil sumarlo al cambio, pero paulatinamente he logrado modificar su manera de comer. Por ejemplo, ya logr� que de lunes a viernes sea muy saludable y el fin de semana tenga su comida de premio, para darse un gusto.
Si tuvieras una c�mara oculta en mi cocina, te dar�as cuenta de c�mo a diario escondo semillas de ch�a en los licuados de mi esposo, o “sin querer-queriendo” cambio el arroz blanco por el integral (o salvaje), cambio la hamburguesa por una pechuga de pollo o pescado, etc. Esos mismos cambios son los que he ido aplicando a mis hijas poco a poco. Si tienes hijos, de la edad que sean, sabr�s que no es f�cil tratar de acostumbrarlos a comer frutas cuando en la escuela todos sus compa�eros comen helado, escoger agua cuando sus amigos beben soda, o que disfruten las carnes magras a la plancha cuando todos almuerzan papas fritas y nuggets de pollo. �Las tentaciones que tienen nuestros hijos son infinitas y est�n por todos lados! Por lo tanto, no puedes pasar de la noche a la ma�ana a quitarle a tu familia el arroz blanco que adoran y cambi�rselo por integral (o salvaje). Es cuesti�n de tiempo y constancia.
Debemos aprender a ser pacientes y perseverantes, y que no sean esos malos h�bitos los que nos arrastren nuevamente a nosotras. Poquito
a poco podemos ir modificando las recetas, agregando productos sa-
ludables y quitando los que no lo son, sumando frutas frescas y vegetales, eliminado grasas saturadas y carbohidratos simples, etc. Si tenemos esa cuota de paciencia, m�s perseverancia y constancia, poco a poco iremos ense�ando tanto a nuestros hijos, como a nuestro esposo, familiares, vecinos y a quienes nos rodean, sobre todo con nuestro ejemplo. Un discurso de vida saludable no tiene validez sin que se note en nosotras de pies a cabeza: en nuestra piel, salud, actitud y energ�a.
Cr�eme. Es una batalla diaria pero que finalmente da resultados con quienes est�n listos para ese cambio. Quiero insistir en este punto: no podemos cambiar la vida de alguien que no est� listo para hacerlo o simplemente no quiere hacerlo. Al principio, era tal mi nivel de entusiasmo por querer contagiar a mi c�rculo cercano todo lo bueno que me estaba pasando a m� en materia de bienestar, que pequ� de ser muy intensa. �Obviamente queremos ver a nuestros seres queridos felices, saludables y plenos! Sin embargo, con el tiempo he aprendido que, aunque tengamos las mejores intenciones, a veces es mejor callar que tratar de cambiarle la mentalidad a alguien que no est� preparado o que simplemente no quiere modificar su estilo de vida.
Como dice el refr�n: “El maestro aparece cuando el alumno est� listo”. Quienes en casa est�n listos para cambiar su estilo de vida por uno saludable, ser�n quienes te ayuden a navegar ese barco. Conc�ntrate en ellos con paciencia, perseverancia y mucho amor.

Lo mejor y lo m�s realista que he le�do hasta ahora en libros de vida saludable , alimentaci�n y ejercicios!!!! About the Author
Deanna Aliano has spent most of her adult life as a practitioner of Holistic health. She received her Therapeutic Massage Certification from the Institute for Therapeutic Massage in 1997, going on to work with Chiropractors, physical therapists and personal trainers for the next 15 years. She became a fully certified Pilates instructor (on equipment and mat) in 2003 going on to hold workshops and log thousands of teaching hours in a multitude of facilities. Her love affair with Yoga began in 1998 after experiencing an emotional transition during a class. Becoming fascinated with the power for change, she continued practicing, went through several workshops and teacher trainings before finally completing her Dharma Yoga Life of a Yogi Teacher Training, becoming a fully fledged teacher. She is further trained in Yoga for Back Care, Aerial Yoga (Through AiReal Yoga) and countless other modalities. She brings her knowledge of all aspects of movement therapy into her teachings and works to constantly find ways to connect to her students.

Power Electronics: Topologies, Magnetics and Control (Volume 1) The first chapter entitled: Basics of Switched-Mode Power Conversion: Topologies, Magnetics and Control was written specifically to provide a comprehensive view of Power Electronics field and to introduce novice engineers to the three key areas of expertise: Topologies, Magnetics and Control. Its first section introduces buck, boost and flyback DC-DC converters. Its second section provides an overview of properties of ferromagnetic materials culminating in modelling and design of transformers and inductors. The third section describes the general method of PWM control and regulation. This Volume 1 also introduces the fourth basic non-isolated converter type, the Cuk converter, invented on April 1, 1975. Unlike the buck, the boost and the flyback converters, this converter introduces for the first time capacitive energy transfer which led Dr. Cuk to formulate his most general State-Space Averaging Method, using the missing state-space equations for capacitor voltages and respective charge balance in addition to state-space equations for inductor currents and corresponding original volt-second balance on inductors. This method results in the general analytical model for both steady-state (DC) as well as dynamic (AC) properties for not only the existing switching converters but for all DC-DC converters based on PWM control which were known at the time and those which have been invented at any time thereafter. The Cuk converter has also motivated formulation of a new general magnetic circuits methods named Coupled-Inductors and Integrated Magnetics and demonstrated their implementation in the non-isolated and isolated Cuk converters.

This four-volume series is an updated version of the three-volume series by Dr. Slobodan Cuk, published originally by TESLAco in 1983 as a second hardcover edition with Volume 1 and Volume 2 printed in one hardcover and volume 3 in a second hardcover. The first paperback edition published in 1981 consisted of first two volumes only. This third edition now has an additional fourth volume.�The objective of this updated and new 2015 series is to provide a fundamental introduction to this complex field to novice engineers as well as to serve as reference books to experienced practicing Power Electronics specialists.�Technical papers in this series have a twofold objective: advance the field with new research results and educate the Power Electronics community at large. This material is now also crucial for the understanding of the new switching methods: Hybrid Switching Method and Storageless Switching Method and a number of related new converter topologies and the magnetics and control improvements that have been introduced in last several years.�This four-volume set provides the four pillars on which the current Power Electronics system design relies. He handed me Dr. Ćuk's dissertation on state-space averaging, and asked me to learn how it worked in the next 2 days. It got me hooked on the intricacies of power supply analysis. Looking back on it now, I realize that perhaps he didn't understand the dissertation, and was hoping I would be able to explain it to him!

Dr. Middlebook and Dr. Cuk’s work was the gravitational force attracted me to the field of high frequency switching power electronics during my study Zhejiang University in 80s. I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to study power electronics with these giants at Caltech afterwards. This book series is inspirational for research and resourceful for practical design. I highly recommend it.

Great info, but needs to re-typeset.

Great information for a practicing engineer in the power conversion field, however the quality of the publications is poor.
The book seems to be a scanned in copy of old lecture notes, mimeograph, etc. As so, the text is hard to read. This is quality information worth being re-typeset.
